counselling services

Behavioral treatments help patients engage in the treatment process, modify their attitudes and behaviors related to drug abuse, and increase healthy life skills. These treatments also enhance the effectiveness of medications and help people stay in treatment longer. Treatment for drug abuse and addiction can be delivered in many different settings using a variety of behavioral approaches, such as 12 step programs and SMART Recovery. Group and individual counselling is a vital part of treatment at the Interior Chemical Dependency Office. Patients are strongly encouraged to participate in these therapies.

Why
Counselling

At the Interior Chemical Dependency Office we are committed to addressing the whole person; their biological, psychological and social/environmental self. As such, we provide individual and group counselling for any patient of the clinic.

Individual Counselling

Many people find counselling beneficial for navigating the waters of recovery. Counselling can help you cope with urges, triggers and cravings, provide insight and feedback into thoughts and behaviours, as well as allow you to voice and work through thoughts and emotions. Counselling can also be provided to help learn to better manage co-existing mental health concerns such as anxiety and/or depression.

Patients of the clinic can book appointments with our addictions counsellor for one-to-one counselling with reception. Counselling appointments are typically one hour long and can be made for the same day as your appointment with your physician for convenience.

Additional fees may be applicable for telehealth services.
