Gender Affirming Care in Kamloops

ICDO is proud to host the Kamloops Equality Health Centre to meet the healthcare needs of the transgender population in Kamloops and surrounding communities.

The clinic provides gender affirming care, with a particular emphasis in hormone readiness assessment and replacement therapy, surgical assessments and referrals, pre- and post-operative care, as well as counselling.
Medical services are provided by physicians in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, with psychosocial supports, group and individual counselling sessions available on-site for those that require it. Telemedicine service delivery is available at request to patients who reside outside the Kamloops area.

Readiness assessments

Consultative gender affirming care for transgender individuals including hormone readiness assessments and replacement therapy, as well as surgical readiness assessments and referrals.

More than just a consultation

Consultation, follow up assessment, therapy initiation and monitoring.

On-going education and care

Pre and post-operative education, counselling, and medical care.

Primary care support

Support to primary care providers in managing specific clinical challenges with on-going progress note updates to the referring physician.

Affordable sessions

Unlimited psychosocial support, group therapy, and individual counselling sessions if requested, based on a low-barrier nominal flat monthly fee.

Community connection

Connection to support networks within the community.

Primary care education

Education and support for primary care providers to follow and monitor hormone therapy once initiated, particularly for out of town patients to minimize travel.

Many professionals available

Consultation with pediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists, counsellors, and other healthcare professionals as required.

Kamloops Residents and Residents of Surrounding Areas

Residents of Kamloops or those for whom travel to Kamloops is the most convenient location to access culturally safe or gender affirming care.

Children and Youth

Children/Youth of any age to facilitate appropriate referrals to specialized children/youth mental health clinicians and pediatric endocrinologist as needed.

Gender Diverse Adults and Transgender Adults

Gender diverse and transgender adults seeking gender affirming support and medical care.

Need Help?

ICDO is a private clinic that is not supported by external organizations. Thus patients pay a monthly fee for non-MSP funded services. If a patient is receiving Social Assistance or PWD Disability benefits through the province of BC, a portion or all of this fee is subsidized by the Ministry of Social Development. Additional fees may be applicable for telehealth services.
